Few TV series finales have come close to the cultural phenomenon Breaking Bad, which in the U.S. ended its five-season run on September 29. It seemed like everyone was watching the show; the viewership numbers for the final episodes were routinely described in the TV trade press with words like "stunning" and "whopping."
The actual figure for the finale in the U.S? Ten million people -- 10.3 million to be precise. The Borgata—which operates the most successful brick and mortar casino in Atlantic City—has partnered with Bwin.party Digital Entertainment to offer online gaming. The second New Jersey online gambling permit was granted earlier this week to Golden Nugget Atlantic City. The Landry-owned casino plans to offer its own brand of online casino games with the technological support of Bally Technologies. Subsequent announcements of permit approvals came from the Trump Casinos, namely Trump Plaza and the Trump Taj Mahal. Trump Plaza named Betfair as its web-based partner, while Trump Taj Mahal has chosen Ultimate Gaming.

he latest (third quarter) report on the social gaming scene by Eilers Research puts Caesars Interactive Entertainment at the head of a list of the most successful online and mobile companies in the sector, citing revenues of $70 million from its mobile and Facebook enterprises.
Games like Bingo Blitz and WSOP have given C.I.E. a lead in the amount of market share on mobile devices, too ahead of companies like Big Fish Games’ Big Fish Casino suite. The trend to mobile is again noticeable, with usage up over 11 percent from the second quarter.

Lottery giant Scientific Games Corp. completed its $1.5 billion buyout of slot machine maker WMS Industries Friday, less than 10 months after the merger was announced.
New York-based Scientific Games announced the deal’s completion through a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Scientific Games paid WMS shareholders $26 per share. The transaction was approved by WMS shareholders and the Federal Trade Commission.
The merger leaves Scientific Games with $3 billion in debt, as well as a $300 million line of credit for future expansion.
