Cantor Fitzgerald LP denied a published report Thursday that federal prosecutors are investigating its gaming unit’s chief executive for participating in his company accepting illegal sports bet.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the investigation into Cantor Gaming CEO Lee Amaitis came to light after Michael Colbert, the firm’s former vice president of risk management, pleaded guilty last month to knowingly accepting illegal wagers. The owner of the Gold Dust West casinos and properties in Colorado, Virginia and Louisiana has put in a higher bid for MTR Gaming Group than was announced last month by Reno-based Eldorado Resorts LLC.
Colorado-based Jacobs Entertainment Inc. is offering $5.69 per share for MTR Gaming, compared with the $5.15 per-share price for up to 5.8 million shares offered by Eldorado Resorts in its merger agreement, according to a filing Wednesday with the federal Securities and Exchange Commission...(more)
