Million-dollar fines for violating Nevada gaming law used to be rare.
But in the past 15 months, state casino regulators have accepted three separate seven-figure payments from gaming companies to settle Gaming Control Board disciplinary complaints. That’s the same number of seven-figure fines the state had issued in all of the previous 28 years.
Online gaming doesn’t cannibalize brick-and-mortar play, a casino executive said this week at the 2014 iGaming North America conference in Las Vegas.
“We’re certainly not trying to destroy brick-and-mortar casinos,” Tobin Prior, the CEO of Ultimate Gaming, told a crowd of around 200, the Las Vegas-Review Journal reported. “That would be insane…From the outset, we always saw our business model as bricks and clicks.”
Sheldon Adelson, CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., is preparing to introduce in Congress a bill for the total interdiction of online gambling. The reason is to protect children. No word about his casino empire: that is not wrong in his opinion.
This project is opposed to the lotteries, poker players, and many casinos that have already launched or plan to launch in the near future on online gaming market.
It seems from a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the industry may see a more docile approach by the American Gaming Association when it comes to opposing the Adelson jihad against online gambling.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission hosted a day-long forum on Internet gambling at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center last week.
