Nevada’s second online poker website launched Thursday.
So now the market is over-saturated.
Time will tell if Ultimate Poker, which has been accepting wagers since April 30, and WSOP.com can generate enough players within the confines of Nevada’s borders to co-exist. Meanwhile, at least three other real money websites — 888 Poker, Treasure Island and the South Point — could go live by year’s end.

The advent of legalised online poker in Nevada could be good for land operators Dave Schwartz, the director of the University of Las Vegas's Gaming Research Center, told local publication 8newsnow this week that legalised online poker in Nevada could be good news for land operators. Schwarz said that experience has shown that online players develop a taste for the game that takes them to live environments and poker rooms. "In the 2000's when online poker first became really big, there's a funny thing that happened, in Nevada the revenue in poker rooms tripled so more people online meant more people wanted to come to Las Vegas to play poker here," Schwartz said...(more)


The online poker industry in the US is about to get much bigger, and the chances for a complete industry explosion grew exponentially this week when Caesars Interactive, which is the brand that owns the World Series of Poker, announced that they are prepared to launch their real-money site.
Up until now, Ultimate Poker has been the only site that has offered real-money gambling in the US, but that is about to change in a big way. Williams Interactive will be featuring its latest games portfolio at Global Gaming Expo (G2E) happening in Las Vegas next week from 24-26 September with a particular focus on mobile gaming.

The poker world has pushed for federal legislation in the several years following the introduction of the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) – the bill that effectively made it illegal for US banks to accept deposits from online poker sites due to the implied likelihood of money laundering. Sports book executive Joseph Asher on Thursday lost his attempt to end the lawsuit against him brought by one-time employer Cantor Gaming.
Cantor has accused Asher of violating a noncompete clause in his employment contract, improperly taking trade secrets and clients with him when he departed in March 2007 in unfriendly circumstances. Asher said he acted properly when launching Brandywine Bookmaking LLC a year later because Cantor was interested in mobile gaming technology and not the physical bookmaking locations that he pursued...(more)

New Jersey plans to appeal a court ruling on Tuesday that the state's 2012 law violates the federal statue prohibiting licensed sports betting in most states.
